MicroBanker SRTE: Extended Edition
The Extended Edition (EXTE) is an edition of the FAO MicroBanking System whereby part of the system is provided in the form of source code and through which software developers can add their own routines and customize certain existing routines. This makes the EXTE customizable to a much greater extent than the SRTE. Because such work can however only be accomplished by well qualified MicroBanker experts, FAO will make the EXTE only available to organizations and groups of users who have the capability, or are able to hire the expertise, to do so.
In the EXTE, about 20 percent of the program is provided in the form of source code, the remaining 80 percent in the form of compiled object code. The 20 percent customizable routines comprise all reports that can be accessed from Main Menu 8 in MicroBanker and most of the routines used for entry and display of customer information and for printing of slips, forms, vouchers etc. The 80 percent compiled code cannot be modified and remains under the exclusive control of the FAO.
So called "user hooks", places where user-written programs are called from, allow the seamless inclusion of user routines in the MicroBanker system. Source code routines are written in Clipper 5 and developers should avail of their own copy of Clipper 5.
The EXTE version should only be attractive for larger organizations and groups of large number of users, who can afford to set up their own development and support infrastructure.
Current pricing (effective from April 1996) for the EXTE is a one-time Access Fee of US$ 8,000 plus a site fee of US$ 400 per installed site.
